Oh oh oh Santa is coming to Tuscany! Yes, the Xmas count-down has officially started and here my favorite appointments in Tuscany.
Weihnachstsmarkt in Florence
One of my favorite appointments is the German Christmas Market in Piazza Santa Croce. It brings to Florence that magic feeling that only Christmas has. It takes place every day from 10am to 10pm from November 30th to December 21st in2016. You can find German food, gifts’ ideas and Xmas decorations.
Christmas Markets in Mugello
Every Sunday in December in most of all the towns of Mugello there is a Xmas market. The most popular are in Marradi and Palazzuolo sul Senio. In Marradi the appointment is on Sunday 10th and 17th December, where you can meet Santa himself and taking a ride with the donkey Pippa! In Palazzuolo sul Senio from December 8th to January 6th don’t miss the exhibit of 100 nativity scenes, that are realized in shops’ windows, doors and any other available corner in town. For more details see here.
Mercato del Campo in Siena
This traditional food & crafts in Siena dates back to the Middle Ages. It takes place in Piazza del Campo on December 3rd and 4th from 8am to 8pm. There are about 150 stalls selling local and traditional food, wine tastings, handmade products and Xmas decorations. More details here.
Visiting the Nativity Scenes
Something I really love are the nativity scenes in Tuscany. My favorite is definitively the automated créche at Florence Chartreuse realized by the friars and reproducing the succession of day and night. Another one that might deserve a visit it’s the Nativity Scene of Cigoli, that it’s probably the largest Nativity scene in Tuscany with a an area of 100 square meters.
2016 Special
At Palazzo Corsini from December 1st to 3rd don’t miss Nataleperfile, an exclusive Christmas Market with selected exhibitors selling vintage clothing, wine and food products, as well as Xmas decorations and gifts’ ideas. Inside the market you can buy charity panettone and pandoro for File Charity Foundation.
From December 8th to January 8th the FLight Festival is back on Ponte Vecchio and onto Florence major monuments! Don’t miss the colorful lights of this special events in Florence!
