And what a better moment then Maggio Divino 2014, a rich calendar of events all around the area to discover the places and their tastes. Have a look at the main events for Maggio Divino 2014.
Foodies Festival in Castiglioncello
From April 25 to 27 Castiglioncello will host the first Foodies Festival, entirely dedicated to good food, wine, beer and Italian food culture. Four different areas to taste almost everything:
- inside the park of Pasquini Castle there will be the Cheap and Chic, farmers’ market where you can buy the best Tuscan food
- at Caletta the Beer Festival, where to taste handcrafted beers
- at Pratovecchio there will the real Street Food for delicious tastings
- Castiglioncello center will host the best wines
In addition famous chefs, food bloggers and wine experts will be around to show you their passion and their best dishes. Livorno Naval Academy Cup
From April 25 to May 4 Livorno will host the 31st Naval Academy Trophy (TAN). The regatta has become an international appointment for sailing clubs from around the world, that will challenge each other in the beautiful sea of Livorno and surroundings. Tuscan Archipelago Flavors Festival in Capraia
On May 4 Capraia Island will host the Festival of Tuscan Archipelago Flavors. Together with the local Slow Food Association you will taste the real flavors of the area, simple and delicious food made by local housewives and restaurants. Beer, Aleatico wine, cheeses from Gorgon Island, honey and much much more.
The event is included within the calendar of the Walking Festival, that is entirely dedicated to discover the natural environment of the Tuscan Archiopelago step by step. Reservation is mandatory and tastings will cost 15€.
Verdeoro in Rosignano Marittimo
From May 2 to 4 the town of Rosignano Marittimo will host Verdeoro, the festival of olive oil and local products. It’s going to be a large farmers’ market with the best producers from Tuscany and Italy selling their handmade products. You will discover the excellence of the Etruscan Coast starting from the main ingredient extra virgin olive oil.
Wine, oil and food tastings, workshops, guided tours, cooking shows and children activities for a long weekend dedicated to olive oil and food. On May 3 there will also be an interesting debate about olive oil between American author Tom Muller, who wrote the famous “Extraverginity”, and Italian photographer and wine producer Oliviero Toscani.
Castagneto a Tavola
From May 9 to 11 in the lovely Castagneto Carducci will take place Castagneto a Tavola, the fair of local products. A long weekend of food and wine tastings. As a matter of fact together with local producers, the famous wines of Bolgheri will be there to create the perfect match between food and wine.
In addition there will be guided tours, workshops, arts and crafts market and music. On Sunday there will be “Pranzo in Piazza“, a great luch all together in the main square of Castagneto. Here the full programma.
Fish Festival at La Caletta
The traditional Fish Festival will take place at Caletta in Castigliocello from June 6 to 8. This is the perfect event to blend like a local and have some fun on the coast: a huge pan will be used to prepared the famous “frittura”, typical fried fish salad, and live music will be the soundtrack to the event. You will taste local and fresh fish prepared following the original grandma’s recipes. In addition there will be the arts and crafts market on Saturday and Sunday. Here the full program.
